The Way Some Things Go

 Love hits you when you least expect it
 or at least that's what they say
 let me tell you a short story
 about what happened the other day
 two broken hearts found each other
 a sense of hope was renewed
 fate can be kind and fate can be fair
 but mostly fate is crude
 
 In a town house near the station
 she sits watching her TV
 her cat's sitting on her lap
 purring just as loud as can be
 nothing to do no place to go
 she wastes another day
 wanting to find her one true love
 but nothings going her way
 
 Sitting alone day after day
 her time passes so slowly
 why she wonders to herself
 are things like this for me
 I know I have a good heart
 tons of love to share
 yet here I am alone
 somehow it don't seem fair
 
 Across town in a small apartment
 there's a man all by himself
 he works hard every day
 goes to the gym for his health
 he sits alone late at night
 just watching his TV
 longing for someone to love
 the way it's supposed to be
 
 Alone at home he thinks to himself
 is there anyone out there for me
 every day's the same and not to complain
 but this is not the way things should be
 I know I am a good person

 it just don't seem fair
 
 One day while at the market
 they stood next to each other in line
 she let him go in front of her
 he thought she was looking fine
 so he asked her to tell him her name
 she said my name is Marylou
 he said hello my name is Sam
 I'm very glad to meet you
 
 Phone number were exchanged
 they both felt they had a chance
 after all they wanted the same thing
 a good time mixed with romance
 that night Sam called Marylou to ask her out
 she said ok she would go
 they were both very happy now
